Since U Been Gone

It has been a bit since my last post. They say “life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” I’ve filled the last few months with plane tickets and passport stamps. I ended 2014 “the year of travel” by spending an incredible 10 days in London, Paris, and Brussels. As soon as 2015 arrived, I headed up to North Carolina to visit family then on to Las Vegas and sunny Los Angeles. Now that my life has settled down a bit before my next big adventure, I thought it would be the perfect time to play catch up.

Sugar Rush

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been overindulging in desserts lately. I’ve always had a sweet tooth but it doesn’t help when you find a few really great local bakeries to add fuel to that fire. I haven’t had much time to bake recently so I figured why not pick up treats from some spots around town?

^^Nutella crepes topped with salted caramel + chocolate gelato.

^^Massive raspberry mousse-filled macarons with fresh raspberries. {This was my favorite dessert!}

Today is also the 3rd birthday of my blog! It started as a way to share my life in New York City with all of my friends and family and has now turned into something much more. I hope that you continue to share in my inspiration + creativity on Life is a Red Carpet.

Flower Power

Back in April I received an invite to a DIY party hosted by Urban Outfitters in Tampa. Since music festival season is in full swing, the project that month was to create colorful flower crowns. It was such a fun night with the DJ spinning in the store, perusing the sale racks in between crafting, and ending the night with lovely handmade flower crowns. Now if only I could hop on a plane to Coachella…

We stopped for some treats at a new bakery in town called Dough. They have everything from Nutella lattes to macarons to bacon doughnuts. The red chandeliers, purple booths, and black and white striped awning make this the trendiest place in town to pick up dessert. I got a mini box of macarons and a root beer float doughnut complete with a sugary glaze and striped paper straw.
